The Importance of Expanding Working Memory

The importance of expanding working memory capacity is made clear by Thad Polk (2018) at the University of Michigan in his text, The Learning Brain: “People with greater working memory capacity tend to perform better in a wide range of cognitive tasks, such as reading comprehension, reasoning, and standardized tests. In addition, working memory capacity is one of the best predictors of performance on IQ tests” (p. 170).   MEMTRIX methodology shows how to combine short-term working memory with long-term memory to develop an expanded working memory capacity (output).  An educational tool referred to as the “Study Script” forms the methodology.
